Pangolin smugglers arrested in Malaysia

Malaysian marine police have seized 16 pangolins and arrested 8 members of a syndicate believed to be involved in smuggling pangolins to Malaysia from Bengkalis in Indonesia, reports The Star Online

MUAR: The marine police have crippled a pangolin-smuggling syndicate with the arrest of eight men and the seizure of 16 pangolins worth about RM81,000 off Sungai Sarang Buaya near here.

The syndicate members, aged between 15 and 39, and a mastermind were caught while waiting for a boat to arrive from Bengkalis, Sumatra, at about 11.30pm on Monday.
